  • Sterling silver coins from Ancient Greece. These coins are replicas, casts of originals which I own. Avaiable is several styles with sterling silver, long and short chains in 18" or 20".  

     

    Lion Coin: Dates from 305-290 BC from Ancient Greece, city of Velia in Lucania, which is in Southern Italy. Silver drachma. A beautiful example depicting a walking lion on one side and Athena wearing a winged crested helmet on the other. 

     

    Athena Coin: Dates from 305-290 BC from Ancient Greece, city of Velia in Lucania, which is in Southern Italy. Silver drachma. A beautiful example depicting Athena wearing a winged crested helmet on one side and a walking lion on the reverse. 

     

    Horse Coin: Dates from 350-325 BC from Ancient Greece, city of Larissa in Thessaly. Silver drachma. A Thessalian horse is depicted on one side and the head of nymph Larissa on the other.

     

    Owl Coin: The first era of Athenian owls, coins struck during the Archaic period of Greek art, began about 512 B.C. and continued through the early fifth century. A thich coin introduced by the Athenian king Hippias and supported by a seemingly limitless supply of silver from the mines at nearby Laurium, the first owls represented a standardization of Athenian coinage. They bore the first three letters of the city name (“AΘE”) on the reverse.
